HelpHeidi Mission Statement

The goal at helpheidi.com is educate, inform and raise awareness about Ewing's Sarcoma and it's Family of Tumors.  We hope this web site can serve as a support system for patients and families of those who have been effected by cancer.

How HelpHeidi.com Began

My name is Michael Tarby. I am a former radiography student at UNLV (University of Las Vegas). And former President of a CSUN Recognized student organization called  S.T.A.R.S (Student Technologists Association in Radiological Sciences). S.T.A.R.S. is an organization that helps and supports fellow students both academically as well as socially.

I first met Heidi at my clinical hospital. Besides being an outstanding tech, she was a cheerful and happy person with a smile that could light up the room. When I found out about her Ewings Sarcoma, I asked if we could help. She explained that although she has insurance, the financial burden will still be hundreds of thousands of dollars. We have an outstanding group of students in S.T.A.R.S and I knew they would not hesitate to help. After sharing my concerns and ideas with Dr. Pales, the Program Director of the Radiography Program at UNLV, HelpHeidi.com was born and the first batch of HelpHeidi.com wristbands were ordered.

We are not professional fundraisers. We are friends, family, fellow students and teachers that have grown to know and love Heidi.  One hundred percent of the profit from all sales and fundraising will go directly to Heidi.

Pay it Forward,

Michael Tarby

Update from Michael Tarby:

What started out as a bright idea between Dr. Pales and myself, has grown into something wonderful and special. It is truly amazing to see all the support and donations from friends and strangers all across the country. Sometimes we believe that we are helpless and cannot make a difference in the life of someone else, or for that matter, our own lives. Being involved with HelpHeidi has shown me many things. We all experience doubt and fear at times that often prevent us from reaching our true potential. HelpHeidi has shown me the power of following through and to not be afraid to think big and to go for it. I thank everyone involved with HelpHeidi and recognize we all have been touched in some way by being involved in her struggle.
