SIDE EFFECTS OF CHEMOTHERAPY:
Just as cancer varies patient to patient so does the side effects of chemotherapy. Here is a short list of common side effects, from the typical drugs used to treat Ewing's Sarcoma. This is not a complete list and it is best to discuss all side effects with your oncologist.
Cyclophosphamide
Common Side Effects
- Fatigue
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Compromised Immune System
- Loss of Appetite
- Hair Loss
- Loss of Fertility
Occasional Side Effects
- Discolored Nails
- Discoloered Skin
- Inflammation of the Bladder
Etoposide:
Common Side Effects
- Fatigue
- Compromised Immune System
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Hair Loss
- Metallic Taste in the Mouth
- Drop in blood pressue
- Loss of Appetite
Occasional Side Effects
- Loss of Fertility
- Reddening of the Skin
- Mouth Sores
- Skin Rash
- Diarrhea
Ifosfamide:
Common Side Effects
- Fatigue
- Compromised Immune System
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Hair Loss
- Bladder Irritation
- Ridged Nails
Occasional Side Effects
- Liver can be affected temporarily
- Darkened Skin Color
- Loss of Fertility
Vincristin (Oncovin):
Common Side Effects
- Fatigue
- Severe Constipation
- Numbness and tingling in the fingers and toes
- Loss of Fertility
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Hair thinning and hair loss
Occasional Side Effects
- Incontience
- Loss of appetite
- Mouth Sores
- Compromised Immune System
Doxorubicin (Adriamycin):
Common Side Effects
- Fatigue
- Limited bone marrow function (drop in BC's) and Compromised Immune System
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Sore mouth and throat (including mouth sores)
- Sensitivity to the Sun
- Loss of Fertility
Occasional Side Effects
- Allergic Reactions
- Skin Reactions
- Heart Damage
- Diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
- Discoloration of fingernails
- Fever and Chills
