What you can do if you are UNDER-INSURED or NOT-INSURED

Chemotherapy and treatment can become very expensive, even if you are insured.  Helpheidi.com was originated to help raise money for Heidi.  There are many ways that you too can raise funds for treatment.

  • Find a CLINICAL STUDY to participate in.  Some of these have certain regulations, such as starting treatment within thirty days of tumor incision.  For more information check out the web site www.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials .

  • Start a FUNDRAISING website like helpheidi, or other fundraising such as garage sales and bake sales.

  • Get on a BUDGET, and cut out all unnecessary spending (ie. cable tv, cell phones, eating out.)

  • Apply for MEDICAID/MEDICARE (You may not qualify, but it's worth the effort.)
  • Get the SCHOOLS and local BUSINESSES involved.

Something that Heidi did, through the hard work and effort of UNLV's Radiology Department was to sell wrist bands, here is the information we gave out:

"We are offering wristbands for sale to help raise money for Heidi. They are similar to the Lance Armstrong ones. They are red with HelpHeidi.com debossed. Please buy one for yourself and other loved ones. Wear one with pride knowing you are helping someone directly. They are $5 each (plus $1 for shippping). You can also make donations directly. Please make out the checks to STARS and in the memo portion put HelpHeidi.org. Your purchase of wristbands and donations are tax deductible.  STARS is a non-profit educational organization. You will be sent a receipt for tax purposes. Thank you."
